Taking advantage of the abundant daylight, Ledbetter devised a palette of pale colors and materials to unify the interior. He used a light-colored, self-leveling concrete on the floor. ‘It was poured one bucket at a time, which gave us a wonderful wave-like effect across the entire surface, as the waves from one pour flowed into the next.’
’I wanted a space that was contemporary in feeling yet classic enough for this city…This is a contemporary installation within a traditional envelope, which is, I think, representative of my practice,’ Ledbetter concluded. Indeed.
